Jagex and Players Celebrate Together at the 10th Annual Golden Gnome Award

The champions of the ever-growing RuneScape and
Old School RuneScape community named and praised

Jagex’s 2020 community heroes were crowned at the 10th Annual Golden Gnome Awards ceremony, which took place on Friday (20th November). The event celebrates the talent of the most creative content creators within the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape communities, and this year’s show attracted more than 100,000 unique viewers across all of Jagex’s social channels.

This year’s most prestigious pair of accolades were the Community Champion Award, and the Community Achievement Award. The winner of the Community Champion was RuneScape & Old School RuneScape Wiki, both games’ official encyclopaedia pages, which are written and maintained by the players.

Content Creator “Faux” took home the Outstanding Community Achievement Award for raising over $57,000, in only four hours, for the St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital. Both the Community Champion and the Outstanding Community Achievement awards are presented to those members of the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape communities whose participation goes above and beyond, inspiring activity throughout the games’ wider global fanbase.

Additional awards, presented to the most talented video content creators, fan artists, cosplayers, and upstanding members of the RuneScape communities, led to a total of 21 Gnomes being earned on the night.

Pete McKay, Director of Community Management, said:
“We’ve seen phenomenal levels of creativity from the RuneScape communities over the years and the 10th Anniversary of the Golden Gnomes has been our biggest and most comprehensive ceremony to date, with 21 awards up for grabs and streaming world-wide across all our social channels. Our community is truly at the heart of our living games philosophy. This ceremony has brought our games, our players, and the Jagex team together to share an incredible experience and I’m so proud of the production standard we achieved while executing from our own homes”.

The popular gala evening is customarily celebrated at Jagex’s annual fan festival, RuneFest. However due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this year the fully digital show was produced remotely.

Premier Club Membership also kicked off for RuneScape and Old School RuneScape last week, offering players the best value ever on membership for the living games, as Jagex teased what may lie ahead for 2021 – the year that marks the 20th Anniversary of RuneScape.
